It was much warmer and more still today than in the past few days. It got up to about 80 degrees at my home outside Philo, just the right temperature to get some stuff done without being too hot or too cool. That's what makes living in this area so wonderful - the weather is such a bonus.
Harvest in the Valley is still in full swing; I was barely able to get five minutes with my vineyard manager - he's still running ragged from one vineyard's harvest to the next. My vineyard is still a few weeks away from being ready, but each of these beautiful warm days inches the sugars up another notch and before long we'll be picking just like everyone else.
I continue to get phone calls and emails about listings, about two per day. People are definitely thinking about buying again. Could it be that almost two years of little activity has finally found us bored from being so scared about the economy and we're ready to go back to normal life again? I'm not sure, but the buyers appear to be back after a summer lull.
People are thinking about selling as well. I'm working on two new listings even as I write this. People who have been holding off, putting their lives on hold, are deciding it's time to move on and that's good for the buyers - more options to choose from.
Despite all the busy-ness I've actually carved out a bit of time the past few days to get out on my horse and ride. I was given the unique opportunity to ride amongst some of the most lovely vines in the Anderson Valley - it pays to have friends in the business! Another ride was amongst the trees and streams at the head of Greenwood Creek, another beautiful spot. I feel fortunate to live in such a lovely location, amonst such good people; I hope you too are able to find a unique home in this beautiful place. Whether you want the valley, the forests or the sea, we have it here to offer you.
Until next week, I wish you my best. Go out and enjoy the sunshine while we still can - the rains (we hope) are headed this way!
